Sam Rutherford, with his wife Bea de Smet, run Prepare2Go, a company that specialises in logistics for anyone who want to go to far-away and difficult to reach places.

Sam (an ex-military helicopter pilot) and Bea are both qualified private pilots and they have organised a number of previous 'flying safaris' for small airplanes, where it would be fun and interesting to fly over the Sahara desert or Scandinavia - but never before to somewhere as hard to reach and as inhospitable as the North Pole.

Helping them organise this North Pole trip was James Yau.
